Culinary Arts

Food and Nutrition teacher Ms.Casale would like to introduce current and incoming SMHS students to the new Culinary Arts class, coming in 2014-2015 school year.  This new class will help students develop knife skills, build knowledge of a variety of different cuisines,  and improve culinary skills. Students will also get their Food Handlers certification.

The current Foods and nutrition class provides the opportunity to learn cooking techniques, learn nutritious facts to keep your body healthy.

“It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, learn things you will learn and remember forever,” says Ms. Casale. Ms. Casale has been teaching at SMHS for 14 years. Coming from New York and teaching in Brooklyn, she realized how much diversity and spirit SMHS has compared to other schools.

During her free time she makes sure to stay active by going to the gym, running, cycling, and caring for her nine year old son.

Ms. Casale wants to motivate and influence students so they can achieve what they want to achieve.

“We make different types of foods every week and she is patient and gives great directions,” says freshman, Vanessa Herrera.

Perhaps Culinary Arts or Foods and Nutrition will be a changing experience for students.

We love food so why not learn how to be creative with it? Did I mention you can eat what you create in class? How great is that!
