Diet: it’s a scary word for everyone, and adding gluten-free to it doesn’t make it any better. But most people don’t realize what gluten actually is and how going gluten-free will actually benefit you.
Gluten is basically certain proteins that are found in wheat, so if anything contains wheat, it contains gluten as well. Over the past few years many people have started to realize that they are sensitive to gluten. Some people even have celiac disease and are allergic to gluten or anything that has been around gluten. People are also unaware of how many foods contain gluten. Many things that we would think are gluten-free isn’t, such as: soy sauce, some types of candy, margarine, yogurt, and so much more.
There are many things that contain gluten, but there are also many substitutes for them. There are gluten-free brownies, gluten-free cookies, gluten-free pancakes, and even gluten-free bread. You can also make the choice of eating corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas. Or if you have an old cookie recipe that needs flour, you can use gluten-free flour. Since so many people are starting a gluten-free diet, many more gluten-free things are being added to menus in restaurants and being put into grocery stores such as, gluten-free pasta, gluten-free bread, and even gluten-free pizza.
It is scientifically proven that going gluten-free strengthens your digestion, puts you in better moods, lowers your inflammation after eating, increases your energy level, and helps you lose weight. Going gluten-free shouldn’t just be “the thing to do.” It should be a choice that you really agree with and will stick with. If you decide to go on a gluten-free diet, I hope it benefits you as much as it has so many other people.
